SCOTT AUKERMAN'S ROCK AND/OR ROLL ROUNDUP RECAPLET

With reality shows in an "in-betweener" state right now (except for ABC's yummy new "Bachelor Bob Show!") I thought I would fill the time by seeing my favorite rock and roll combinations doing what they do best-- rollering and rollicking!!!
BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN (Dodger Stadium): This show was a MAJOR disappointment. I have been a LONGtime fan, back since "The Boss" sang that Oscar©-winning song about Forest Gump's courageous battle with AIDS. But technical problems plagued Mr. Springsteen's Dodger Stadium debut. A severe equipment shortage forced his band to constantly share the available microphones! I mean, a hundred dollars a ticket, and you can't even buy a few extras?! No wonder it's Springsteen, right, everyone? Unfortunately, the crowd seemed to agree, as their constant chorus of "boos" marred an otherwise pleasant evening.
WHITE STRIPES (The Greek Theatre): After watching this show, I was a bit confused! The two of them are at such different musical levels, they sometimes seem like they're in two separate groups. For instance, the girl seems like she's doing perfectly fine drumming in her Half-Retarded Make-Believe Band. And then he has to spoil it all by playing loud, proficient rock and roll over it! P+U=White Stripes!
KROQ INLAND INVASION (Glen Helen Pavilion): As I looked around at the goth fans in attendance, I realized the answer to a very important question: How old is too old to dress up like Robert Smith of the Cure? And the answer is: whatever age Robert Smith is.
RADIOHEAD (The Hollywood Bowl): I heard about this band from a friend who played me their version of "Creep" by that band with the dead lady who lit her boyfriend's house on fire. So I don't know what I was expecting, but I tell you, that lead singer is a class-A weirdo! If I wanted to see someone bouncing around like a Mexican jumping bean, I would go see Ricky Martin! (and don't think I won't try to [depending on my budget!]). At first I thought he was just another crazy Jamie Kennedy character, and that I had, once again, been X'd. But no, this guy is for real! I can't tell you what he was singing about, because I speak English! (Thanks to Bill Cosby for that one).
